Flash Poems

Move It

I plead pedestrian
No more equestrian
If asked to ride I
Tend to tarry
I've become quite Sedentary
Life force locked
Into to my feet
Too much time
Spent on my seat
Dreams dancing
In my head
My emotion driven
Girth does spread
I'd best get up and prove it
To live life
You've got to
Move it

Transition

Lustrous sun shines
On late summer days
In dream drifting
Haze
I walk semi-sleeping
In a state that Defines
This peace.
My mind's
Bent, broadening
And seeking
Sunshine is in keeping
With managing the
Maze
Between waking
And sleeping
Like a fire, it refines
This late summer
Phase

The Moon

Silver moon
Through cedar bows
Shines upon the lake
I have no thoughts
Of why's or how's,
Or is life a mistake?
Only wonder at the moon
Softly glowing orb above
Un chanson de La Lune
I sing a song of love
A light, a sign of hope I see
This night I'm glad,
Just to be
Gazing at the moon

The Point

Sometimes I say
What point is there?
Then I open my eyes
To all that's come my way
Then I am thankful
To be alive
Amazed at what
I have survived
From Seattle to Salt Key
I'm a foreigner
In this rain soaked land
And just like Borimer
Sometimes I stand
So alone yet resolute.
I continue making music
To conga drums and flute
I am an Islander at heart
The ocean calls to me
My love and I long to make
Our home beside the sea.
To arise, to sing, to pray
To make love everyday
I see my lover, fond and fair
I find the point is waiting there.

Best Friends

Who do you trust?
Who is your friend?
I say it must
Be someone
You would defend
Who isn't pretentious
Whose love's
Proven true
Time and again
Just imagine that someone
Is the love of your life:
Your husband or your wife
You find such peace.
You feel inside
A caring that keeps
Love always alive
And each day
You will discover again
In each other you'll find
Your best and
Most trusted friend

The Waves

Be still and
Hear the waves
Feel the calm
Flowing over you while
Worries wash away
With the tide
In this Peaceful place
You reside
In Truth.
When I need
A healing potion
Or soothing balm or
My soul renewed
I take the notion
To call on my love
Who then
Holds my hand
And walks with me
Beside the ocean
I awake to life
To be amazed
For I hear
So much more
Than just the waves

The Week's End

The week ends
The task list begins
I am dreaming
Of sea shores
While I gaze
At all these chores
Motivation's
Just around the bend
Thoughtful reflections
Heartfelt affections
I seem stuck
To this chair
While my chore list
Waits just over there
As I sit and sip
My favorite blend
It's time to attend
The duties of the day
For I have blinked
And wished
Wished and blinked
But the list won't
Go away

The Rain

The rain patters leaves
The air is cool and clean
Soothing and serene
Soft Sounds that weave
Into my dreams and
Call me to waking.
So much life to live
So many tasks taking
Time
So much love to give
Yours, Mine
The wonder of it all
Keeps this child like
Heart alive
And ready for the call
Pleasure, pain
Laughter, tears
Joy and fears
Mesh together
In a peaceful place
When you run out
Into the rain
And feel it on your face

Anniversary

This is a day of joy
Reflection, Faith,
Hope, Love and Loyalty
For one girl & one boy
Whose connection stays
And grows. Like royalty
I feel richly blessed
By life and time
We are put to test
But we rise above.
How is it I'm the
One who lays to rest
Beside such beauty?
You are to me
The best of best
For all my time
You will hear
These words
From me
I will love you endlessly
My friend, my love
Happy anniversary!
Je t'aime
Andie

Time

Time
This thing we're racing
Time
Which keeps us pacing
Tick tock take stock
The constant counting
Of the clock
Does not stop
For Dreams
That we are chasing
Ever present ever clear
Mindful that love is dear
From summer sun
To Winter chill
Only love makes time
Stand still
But not for real
Since days are
Numbered here
By Time

Back to Sleep

I went about
My business
Long before the dawn
Sleep was heavy
On my eyes
Though sleeping
Had long gone
I looked up
With much surprise
To see my lover
Sitting on the sofa there
Lovely face, tousled hair
Her smile bright
As summer sun
She'd been wakened
By our little dog
But she was meant
For sleeping
Like a log
For many hours hence
So I kissed her
On her brow
And said "Go back
To sleeping now."
And quite quickly
Did she commence

After the Storm

The sun shines
on the leaves
and leaves a warm
impression.
A weather wounded
heart grieves at
hurricane's confession.
To the east we look
from here in the west
As they face the
Wind's destructive quest.
They awaken to hope
and day that's dry
Now to cope
with what was taken
By the eye
of winds, fury whipped.
Finding, feeling faith
One is more equipped
To rise and begin again.
What human hearts
endure as we wander
out and wander in
We long to feel secure
After being battered
By the wind.
Still we begin again.
We will begin again

Yesterday' Rain

These silent cedars stand
On tip toe
As they reach up to the sky
Dripping the rain of yesterday
Like tears from saddened eyes
Though never a tear did fall so far
Or silent as the dew
As those who take this lonely leap
And vanish from the view
Yesterday's rain
In soft silent drops
Is falling to the ground
And like the dreams
Of younger days
They hardly make a sound

I just slipped this poem in, it was actually written many years ago at Troublesome Creek Washington. I would go there to reflect on life and love. I stood in the cedar forest after a rain and scribbled the words in my journal. One of my earliest flash poems.

At Peace

I've tended towards extremes
All or nothing at all it seems.
Totally dependent
On someone else
Or totally reliant upon myself
With little middle ground
But my love brought me clarity
And helped disperse my disparity
True love is such a rarity
Yet true love I have found
And true love paints
This dreamer's dreams
My heart , my soul
Have found peace
No more wandering, I wonder
Will these wonders ever cease?

Turn Around

Some have turned
Their backs on love
And flee from any notion
Their hearts could ever
Feel again.
They just go
Through the motion
Of day to night, then
Day to night again.
They have no feel
For the future
They feel only where
They have been.
Having watched as their
Dreams scattered
They believe that
Love is blind
It could be that
We will find
Love is all that mattered
Though loving in need
May break our hearts
Still, Love in deed is kind
And even when
Our backs are turned
Love is never far behind.
Love is never far behind.

Vacation Recollections

The tumbler falls.
The laundry calls.
Home from our vacation
To daily tasks
And empty flasks
From distant  jubilation.
Summer feels like fall
Shivering, I recall
Warm air and
Moon light on the Sea,
Our senoritas in the pool
How Margaritas make a fool
And thank God
For friends that came to be.
Had we not met so soon
We'd , no doubt,
Still be looking for our room
Or at the worst arrested
Having been Tequila bested
In the southern nation
Or at best just
Sleeping on the sand
Snuggled close, holding hands
And still on vacation
