Journal    October 2016

October 12, 2016
This is the day our grand daughter Cheyanna passed away. I will never forget the phone call and the feel of my heart breaking. Ten years ago today. I remember Andie urging me to go to Arizona when she was born so we could see her. We did and she was so beautiful and so fragile. I remember how amazing it was to hold her and we felt her vulnerability. So much so that when we got back to Washington we tried to figure a way to pack and move back to  be near her. It was not to be for she was only on this planet for a few months before her next adventure began. There is an ache in my heart that will never leave. I also feel a sense of gratitude for having had the opportunity to meet her. It is one of the saddest experiences of this lifetime. Her mother and father, Natalie and Aaron, were anguished, as were we all. And each year when it rolls around I remember her amazing beauty and the old soul I saw in her eyes. "Something's lost and something's gained in living everyday," Joni Mitchell said and it so very true. Fly away angel. You are ever in our hearts.

There is not much I can say, it's just a simple song, but is the favorite part of the day is the dawn.
