It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile. Sting ...

Listening to Sting in Chile, Englishman in New York. Wow. All these years have passes and music has been sustenance to my soul. Most often last on the list of things to do in a day. I seem to have all these ideas floating in my heart and mind but they remain misty and ethereal. Time to capture the melody and lyrics is what is needed. It feels like I am on a subway with no exit racing towards an unknown destination. There is no engineer and there are no brakes so arrival, I fear, will be abrupt. If one's view of the sun is shaded by the sense of depression there is a filter that tends to sift out all the wonderful things that happen in any given day. There are so many but they escape me. Exercise. Water. Meditation. Nutritious organic food. Rest. Exercise. Sobriety. These call out with clarity. The moment my ears unplug is the point of awakening.
May it be now.

I awoke to the kitty tearing into my stage carpet this morning. What is it with cats? I had new carpet put in the studio and the very first day she shredded the entire entryway down to the floor. I am not a cat person. It doesn't make sense to have a pet that randomly bites or scratches the crap out of you while you are petting them, destroys furniture and carpet to manicure their nails, disperses dander and fleas throughout the house and leaves the entrails to small animals in the doorway. Waking up this way, the sound of claws ripping a rug, did not start my day pleasantly. Let's see here. Where or what is the lesson and source of gratitude? I am grateful for the opportunity to practice non-attachment to my belongings. I am grateful for this display of impermanence to all things material. I am grateful for the body's ability to heal from random wounds. Yea that is it!
We have another kitty that is wild and lives under the house. It is deaf and comes to the porch to eat everyday but flees in terror when we walk outside. No matter how long we feed it, it does not get any more comfortable, or understand that we don't have an agenda like putting it on the menu. As a bonus, yesterday out from under the house came a big fat tom cat and strutted up to the cat's dish. Nope. Not invited to the food line. I am hoping he moves on to other pastures. I am also hoping deaf kitty is a male who just suddenly lost its beer belly and not a mama who just birthed wild kitties under the house. That happened before and we ended up having to round up 19 cats and take them to the animal shelter. Maybe there is some alien toxic waste under the house that causes paranoia in cats and increases fertility. One kitty is too many, I mean, enough.
And the rain falls down.

Death and taxes are all we can count on but I read there is another thing we can count on and that is change. Change is coming whether we want it or not. No matter how much we might wish things could be the same they do not. We do not. But change is part of the circle of life. It is proof we are still living. If we are going through changes we are not done with this journey. Change is beyond death and taxes for after we die there is the next change whatever that is. As we are not certain of what lies beyond the veil we will each of us in our time know the answer. We just won't be able to share it. Mean time it is best to pay attention to all of life and breath through it as part of a eternal circle. In the end there is only love.

Sending out the love

Greg Murat is a part of the family of writers, bloggers, musicians, guitarists, poets, artists, husbands, friends, papa's,, singer songwriters, leaders, business consultants, worker bees: all  those who wear many hats. I love to write music, prose, technical guides, verse, lyrics and poetry. This journal or blog is a release in free form and I am happy to let it all out and thankful to have the chance. I have to be reminded from time to time that people do read it so I need to filter some of what I say or change names to protect the guilty or innocent party.
