Silent T Studios April Newsletter 2004

  • It is April and spring is in the air although it is hiding behind a chill most mornings. So much has been going on in the studio. Rob Peebler has been doing all the engineering on projects as I have been really busy with other endeavors. I have been performing quite a bit and look forward to more in the spring. We are bouncing projects back and forth between Mike Daily's lovely studio space-Studio 04. He is getting the wiring done today and it is quite a bit larger than our humble fort. The next Murat CD is the first project going there. We are running a mixture of Rob's, Silent T's and Mike's gear. The drums sound stellar, rich and full. Rob really knows how to bring out the punch in a kick drum. Mike will be having an open house soon and we will be playing there. It should be great. I will keep you posted.

  • I haven't spent a great deal of time at the console and it has been good because I wrote two songs just last week. It is nice to hang the tech coat on the rack sometimes. It goes back on this week as Rob will be heading to Arizona. We will go down for a weekend visit in May. I spent the morning listening to Freedom and Rob's new CD. It is powerful medicine. I am leaving last month's blurbs at the bottom of the page just to help keep track of Rob and Freedom and the songs we are working at Studio 04.

  • We hope to get Joules Graves in one of these days to sing some of her music. We mixed down one of her live performances and may master the CD depending on scheduling.
  • Rejoice Israel went to Europe and that put a pause on her project that may go for awhile since Rob is leaving town and he has been her engineer. We will see.
  • Bill Spies continues this month and Casey will begin the next phase of his album here and at Studio 04.

  • Flow Motion was here Sunday but Andie and I were out the door to play in Bellingham so we didn't get to visit or see how their tracks turned out. Rob had to catch a plane to California to go to his grandmother's funeral so we didn't get to talk Our condolences to Rob and his family.
  • We are doing most of our tracks on PC with Nuendo software and MOTU hardware. We are using Apogee converters for any of you equipment minded folks. What does it all mean? It sounds so good. We are consulting with Mike on the gear he will get. He doesn't seem inclined to run with PC or Mac. He wants to hit the record button and go. It looks like it may be a Mackie HDR. We are looking at the same thing. We are doing drums on the Yamaha AW4416 stand alone recorder. It is still the best one on the market in the price range.

  • On the video side of the picture, we are pricing projectors so Andie can do a live video show at our concerts and utilize her photographs and videos as part of the performance. I am really looking forward to that.
  • And that is it is a nutshell this morning. Happy April.

Freedom and Rob completed their mixing in New York. We will have some credits on their epic new CD. Rob is still mixing and burning in the studio, preparing CD's for demo's and for sale at their upcoming shows. They have been working on this project for two years now. Rob will depart for Arizona in the next few days.
  • Flow Motion's live Melt Down CD is also being mixed at Silent T by Rob Peebler. Rob is a Spirit Warrior and a great engineer. It is great to share time and space in his company.
  • New Murat CD is in the works. We have the drums done for 8 tunes now and we are going to go for another big push tonight. Our hope is to lay the foundation for a stack of CD's and begin the arduous task of cataloging my songs.
  • New Tunes: I have written two new tunes this week. I am writing my way through Josh's break up and Jim's break up as well. It seems to be a time of great upheaval in so many areas of life and the world. No matter how intense the world's troubles a broken heart seems to always take center stage when it is your heart that has been broken. The tunes are called
  • Didn't See It Coming
  • Walk Away
  • We are currently cutting the drum tracks for the new CD. I am very excited and still up in the air on the final tunes. Guess we have a couple of choices. We laid down tracks for these tunes:

  • Give Us Free
  • Working for A Living in the USA
  • Lost in Viet Nam
  • Boody Wah Scoody (Happy Feet)
  • Hey Buddy
  • Love Wears Your Name
  • These Blues
  • Club Americana
  • You Wear A Mask
  • Walk Away

I am going to be working consecutively on a CD of acoustic songs. I was going crazy with all these tunes just floating around in my head . I need them on CD so it is time for that to become the predominant focus of the studio, as it was originally intended. With these exceptions.

Bill Spies will continue as we need to help get the spirit awareness in his songs out to people. We introduced him to Mike Daily's Studio 04 last night and may begin doing some of his tracks there next week.

Casey Garland will be returning weekly starting March to have fun laying down tracks for the River Runner CD.

Sarah Maria just did a quick sample of her composing skills for a short film she produced for her dance group. She is so good in so many areas, I think it makes her a little crazy sometimes. I said, don't worry about it, you can do it all. I want to record Sarah some more.

We also want to get Andie back in and really do a CD for her. I am so looking forward to hearing the final tracks.

That is it in an HTML nutshell. God bless
